The Genocide Convention – is ‘specific intent’ obstructing the protection of vulnerable groups?

The Genocide Convention signified an international commitment to prevent genocide and protect human groups. Yet, Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, Darfur, Myanmar and now the persecution of the Uyghurs illustrate a failure to realise this ambition.

This webinar will explore how the Genocide Convention defines genocide and illustrate how the Convention is ill-equipped and unprepared to deal with the reality of modern atrocity.
