RENÉ CASSIN PROGRAMME MANAGER
René Cassin is seeking a dynamic, innovative and organised Programme Manager to support the expansion of our human rights campaigns and projects.
About René Cassin
René Cassin is a human rights charity that uses historical Jewish experience and positive Jewish values to campaign and educate on universal human rights issues such as discrimination, detention and genocide.
Our vision is a world where everyone fully enjoys their human rights as enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We aim to promote and protect human rights through legal advocacy and campaigns, to raise awareness of human rights and foster activism within the Jewish community and to bring a Jewish voice to the international promotion of human rights.
Job role: The Programme Manager will provide operational support to the Director in all aspects of the organisation’s activities, including fundraising, outreach, programme development and coordination, campaigning and general management.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with charities in events management, donor and volunteer liaison, and operations management. S/he will also have demonstrable drive, commitment and energy with a passion and commitment to the aims and objectives of René Cassin.
Salary: £21,000 – £23,000 pa (commensurate with experience)
Hours: 35 hours + one out-of-hours meeting per week
Location: The JHub, West Hampstead, London NW6
Key responsibilities for this position include:
- Ensuring that the organisation has a diverse and sustainable funding base by: liaising with individual and institutional donors; assisting with creating a monetised membership structure; identifying suitable funding opportunities; writing funding proposals and grant applications; and coordinating large and small scale events and educational programmes;
- Planning and managing large and small scale events to promote and raise funds for the organisation;
- Coordinating all interactions with supporter and volunteer networks;
- Providing support for advocacy and policy work on human rights issues;
- Assisting in the management of the day-to-day operations of René Cassin, including managing and supervising interns and volunteers, managing office, IT and general equipment, and organising filing and database systems.
Essential requirements for this position include:
- Undergraduate degree.
- Extensive multi-channel fundraising experience, including events planning, completing fundraising applications and grant writing, management of fundraising and donor database;
- Substantial experience working in the not-for-profit sector;
- Operations experience, including running projects and programmes, hiring and managing volunteers and interns, coordinating meetings and events;
- Project management experience;
- Previous experience with effective use of databases to manage various organisational relationships;
- Good interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a small team;
- Ability to work flexibly and under pressure to meet deadlines, including ability to prioritise and manage competing demands; and
- Commitment to human rights and to the organisation’s mission and values.
Desirable requirements for this position include:
- Higher level degree in a related field, such and law, human rights or business administration.
- Experience developing and implementing education and advocacy projects.
- Experience in advocacy or policy work.
- Good understanding of the Jewish community.
- Creativity and resourcefulness.
