Lauterpacht, Lemkin, Lviv: a personal account of the making of modern international law

HRLA and René Cassin invite you to come on a personal journey of discovery with Prof. Philippe Sands QC and explore with him the origins of modern international law.

In celebration of Sir Eli Lauterpacht, colossus of international law, Philippe will trace the emergence of international law as it is now understood to Lviv in present day Ukraine.

By exploring its roots, Philippe will explain the importance of international law, as well as its meaning, and the crucial role it has played in promoting a world premised upon the rule of law values, thus providing a framework for security, prosperity and peace.

The chair of the evening will be Professor Susan Marks, LSE.
